Centre Parcs Warminster May 7th and 8th

Well a little break was planned with some friends to travel just down the road to Warminster and stay at Centre Parc’s. There are so many things to do it’s difficult in fitting everything in. A few of the Kids in the party wanted to try some fishing in the lake. I’ve seen people fishing there before but never taken much notice.
A quick look around on one bank revealed nothing other than a couple of carp. Then I noticed someone feeding the ducks on the other side of the lake and it was alive with carp. And they were not letting the ducks get anywhere near the bread. You just couldn’t put a pin between them. They were all around the 1-3lb mark with one or two slightly larger.

So the plan was set to fish at 9am in the morning. By the time I cooked breakfast for all and got the tackle ready it was the alotted time. Tyler who wanted to fish desperately had been awake since 5.30am and just couldn’t wait any longer.

Soon the 3 boys who wanted to fish landed a carp each on a selection of crust and bread flake. It was very easy fishing but good fun for them.

I don’t know how many we caught in the 2.5hrs we fished for but it would have been well over 20.

Perhaps an angler for the future!

The next day there was just Tyler and myself the younger ones had lost interest. To be fair it’s difficult controlling 4 small kids when the water is so close.

One question I was asked by the kid’s is, do we need to kiss the fish before returning them. Where did that come from.

So if you do go down to the Longleat Centre Parc then take a rod with you. Cost for a weekend to fish £9 which is not too bad.

Carrie one of the Mothers and my God Daughter just had to have a go fishing. Now it’s not new to her as when she was 9 ish I had taken her fishing during half term. I think she enjoyed the sandwiches and the snooze in the car after lunch better than the fishing.

She decided a few years on to have another go! Well she did find it difficult to hook a carp but eventually it worked and here she is with the thing. She looks as though she is strangling the poor thing.

I didn’t want to hold this, is it dead yet?
