Corona virus or Covid-19
Pretty soon after the river season finished for the year, March 2020 will go down in history of when the UK closed down.23rd March Boris our Prime Minister came on the TV at 8.30pm to tell people to stay at home.
One of the slogans was very much stay home, protect the NHS and save lives. We are only allowed to shop for essentials and exercise for 1 hr. Over 70’s should stay inside and be shielded.
So as far as angling was concerned even though it was a isolation type of sport, all sport was cancelled and forbidden. I for one was not too surprised to see the lock down coming as several other European countries had been in lock down for a few weeks before us as death tolls grew alarmingly.
This has effected a couple of things that I organise. Firstly the National Tench Fishers fish-in at the Carp Societies Horseshoe lake was cancelled followed by our Tench Fishers teach-in for Farnham Angling Society in July. We need though to be safe.
For me personally I have been building a pond in the meadow. The soil was extremely soft from all the rain and so it was an excellent time to build it. It’s been on my mind for a couple of years and this lock down delivered a great opportunity to start it. I’m thinking of just keeping it for wildlife.
With that in progress I also started to tidy the meadow and garden. Cutting hedges and grass. I also had some time to complete some filming and playing around with the camera. I did complete a short video to try some editing out on my editing suite. It was also an excellent opportunity to record some bird song as the amount of traffic was almost nonexistent so there was so little background noise.
Another project that had been on my mind for a while was to build an introduction to my video’s that I often put on the blog. So I wanted some consistency almost like a title and an introduction. So I have completed a reasonable effort. So once we get out fishing again I hope to use this.
So in these worrying times lets hope we survive this and move forward once again. Stay safe everyone.
