Session number two and 3 for tench
Again the weather was still cold and I arrived on a Sunday evening to see what had been out. The fishery had been quiet for the weekend with little being caught. A few carp anglers had been catching a few tench on boilies during the night time.
I was going to be using worms again. Everything was quiet during the evening session. The morning and afternoon was much the same. Other tench anglers were blanking so I had some satisfaction that I was not alone. It had appeared that the male tench had moved into the shallower part of the lake and were waiting for the females to arrive.
It got about 6pm and I thought I’m wasting my time and packed up in record time and headed home. It’s not often I’m defeated however it’s no good flogging a dead horse.
I also had much work to do as the Tench Fishers national fish-in is taking place soon and as co organiser I had so much work to complete. The following week the lake was still being mischievous and sharing her green jewels.
The Tench Fishers National Fishin went reasonably well, I say reasonably well it poured with rain on Saturday with high winds and rain again on Sunday. Plenty of tench and carp were caught with a few good 8lb tench. I’ll write more about the event when the report is written.
So with that event out of the way I needed to return to the venue to pick up more bits and pieces as I cannot pack everything in the car in one go. I thought I would return midweek to complete the job. I thought that since it was going to be a half decent day weather wise I would fish for a day session. I don’t complete many of these as I find it’s better to spend a couple of days fishing. Anyway I thought a change of tactics and bait would be used as worm had been not as productive as previous seasons. So I bought 3 pints of red maggots the day before.
Need to say here that the above was written in May and it’s now the first week of July and I’ve forgotten most of the details. Luckily I completed a video of the days fishing and session turned out really well. The maggots was the difference as most were still using worm. So this was a day session only.
