November 26th Chew Valley lake

This is the second time on Chew inside one week and was feeling excited at fishing for the pike again. Andy Cowley my guide for the day thought that things looked good and he had plenty of good feedback from the previous day anglers. We arrived a little early and had to wait for the full english breakfast as the lodge was not yet open. This has got to be one of the most pleasurable ways of starting a session.

With both of us fueled up and ready to go we made our way to the boats. The conditions were very treacherous with plenty of ice on the bottom of the boat. Soon we were loaded and motoring out to our position. The echo sounder being more than useful at finding locations and features. Quickly Andy hooked two fish one on dead bait and the other on a spoon. Both were doubles so we were off to good start. Few others were catching so we moved on to pastures greener, except they proved to be quite barren. He caught two more on spoons and I had a little one on a plastic rubber little thing.

We laughed in the morning I said that on the weather forecast they said snow would move in at 3pm and here we were looking at a clear brilliant cloudless sky. Clouds started to gather as the day progressed and at 3.09pm it started to snow and it continued until I returned home at 7pm. I was due to visit Southampton early in the morning for a short weekend cruise to Bruges. The roads though were fine.

So I did enjoy the first couple of visits to Chew and will see if I can get a few more days there next year.
