Bristol Avon and some dace and roach
The Bristol Avon is very much a spate river and comes up and down quickly. I fish a syndicate stretch around Great Somerford where there are some good roach and dace. Plus the odd good pike. I fished for an afternoon with the river fining down from a flood. I was using some maggots from my last perch trip with bread in a 20g feeder. I had bites from the start mainly from minnows and then roach and dace. I moved swims to see if I could find a swim where there were no minnows. I succeeded and found a lovely swim just upstream from branches where the roach just had to hid under.
Sure enough I caught a few roach but mainly dace and some good ones too.
It was just refreshing to be getting some bites and fish. Nothing large.
