Chris and Tom barbel fish the river Wye
Chris and Tom had not caught any barbel before and asked me to guide them on the river Wye.
Both were very competent anglers. Both fished together when younger and met up occasionally to catch up on life.
Chris and I met early in the morning, as Tom was travelling down the M4 he arrived a little later.
The river was low and clear however I still felt confident.
Tom is normally a dry fly fisherman and fishes the upper H.Avon and Kennet where as Chris is a carp fisherman. Both have a very different live style and jobs however they were very passionate about angling. It was a joy to talk with them.
Chris was the first to land a small barbel.
Then Tom joined in with a nice barbel of 7lbs or so.
The fishing was difficult but the chaps were having a great catchup.
Chris was next into a very good chub of 4lbs 15oz and we couldn’t make it a 5lber.
Tom was next on the rods and he caught a beautiful barbel of 8lbs plus which fought really well.
They ended with a few more barbel and in between the tea and conversation we all had a fantastic day with pb barbel and chub.
Happy days
