Colin and Roger Tench fishing
I still hadn’t done much tench fishing for the season because of Mum’s health. Roger and Colin had asked me earlier in the year to guide them tench fishing.
So time we duly up and we headed off for a couple of days tenching. I had got to the swim the day before to do a bit of prebaiting and couldn’t resist a few casts in the evening. Lucky for me I caught a few tench but nothing too large. They were all around the 6lb mark with the largest at 7lbs 1oz.
Roger and Colin were staying locally in the area and arrived at about 7am the following day.
They were using tackle that I provided and were using the normal casters. They fished swims adjacent to each other and so could enjoy a bit of a social too.
The morning was very quiet with little or no action. Colin had the first fish at 6lbs 9oz followed by Roger catching a couple more around the same weight.
It certainly wasn’t none stop action as per the previous visits however at the end of the day they had 6 between them. Again all about the same size.
The forecast for the next day was heavy rain all day.
I slept all through the night until first light. Great the rain hadn’t arrived so out went some spombs of bait hemp and casters with some chopped worm.
At 7.30 in the morning I had a 6lbs 7oz male which was a good sign. That was to be the only sign of the day as the rain fell incessantly all day. The water temperature dropped and so did the tench’s appetite.
We fished throughout the remainder of the day with nothing to show for our efforts. Chris a friend fishing there had a few carp with the two best being 28lbs 14oz each. All caught on worm.
I was not happy about how the day had panned out, but you cannot control the weather. It certainly stuffed us up this session. However both caught pb’s which can’t be bad.
Think I have a very good plan B for them next year float fishing for tench.
