Tench fishing at Horseshoe and Bradley’s

What is it about fishing. One session you can fill your boots and have a a couple of “red letter days” then the sun comes out for a few days and things go completely downhill. Paul and his son Alex had wanted to catch a few tench and a good few weeks ago we agreed that late July would be a good time to fish for them.

Throughout June and July the fishing had been good for them on both lakes. Then the sun came out for a few days and the temperatures rose to 25c and the tench decided to spawn in both lakes.

First of all they were at it at Horseshoe so we moved to Bradley’s. Guess what when we arrived right in front of our eyes they were at it in the weed. Some really good tench of well over 8lbs doing what comes naturally.

Alex and Paul were interested to see them but this did little to help the situation. The sun shone it got hotter and hotter and nothing happened for 3 days. Bless Alex he had a wonderful attitude to the situation and I think enjoyed the camping holiday because that’s almost what it was. I tried everything I knew but it all came to nothing.

This must be the most disappointing session that I’ve had. Needless to say I went home and kicked the cat. I don’t think people can understand how dejected I feel.

Hopefully we can bounce back from this when we go barbel fishing later in August.
