Wilf and his first barbel
I first met Wilf whilst on holiday in Cape Verde. I had been fishing each morning for a couple of hrs and again in the late afternoon until sunset.
I was fishing and catching plenty of fish not large ones but about 1 to 2lb. Wilf came along with his rod and asked what rig I was using and bait. So I showed him both and from then on we fished for the next week or so.
We kept in touch and eventually him and his wife Jo flew down from Newcastle to ours for a weekend. The first day we went fishing on the river Wye.
He had never caught a barbel before so was very excited about the whole day having seen other clients with barbel.
We had a great day catching a few barbel and the biggest going 9lbs 14oz.
We had a special day and he was pleased as puch and couldn’t wait to send a photo to his brother who is a keen angler. We had walks in some Cotswold villages and even a walk along the Bristol Avon at Lacock. Jo and Lynn were very lucky girls being able to do this. We had a great weekend and even booked to revisit Cape Verde for a repeat of the fishing next year. Really going to look forward to that and seeing Jo and Wilf again.
